  • 1. DETAILS OF THE CLIENT

    Introduction- The Great Taipei Gas Corporation.
    Founded back in the Meiji period of Japan as Taiwan Gas Corporation, The Great Taipei Gas Corporation was established in 1964 as the first private gas provider in Taiwan. At the moment, it is the largest gas provider in Taiwan that provides natural gas for about 395 thousand customers in Taipei. Since its foundation, we have been actively introducing Japan's advanced technologies and facilities. We also send out our engineers to Japan to offer them trainings and opportunities for technology exchange. In 1998, we introduced the SCADA monitoring system in cooperation with Japanese gas company. Since then, we have been working on improving safety and anti-disaster measures so that our customers can always use gas in a safe and secure environment.

  • 2. ISSUES BEFORE INTRODUCTION

    The Great Taipei Gas Corporation has been introducing the type NS microcomputer meter for some 20 years. At present, it is used in about 145 thousand households and facilities. The penetration rate is at 37%. The purpose of employing Japanese microcomputer meters was that we needed to introduce the advanced safety technology of Japan in order to deliver gas to our customers in a safe and secure manner. Currently, the introduction of microcomputer meters is also being driven in Taiwan based on the provisions of Article 38 in the Natural Gas Act.

  • 3. BACKGROUND TO THE INTRODUCTION OF AICHI'S FLOW METERS

    The reality is that the penetration of microcomputer meters remains low and there are still many gas accidents happening all across Taiwan. However, the introduction of microcomputer meters is surely enhancing a positive effect on consumers’ awareness of safety and security as well as their anticipations toward gas providers.
    We consider that right now we are in the early years of microcomputer meter dissemination. We expect that in the near future, microcomputer meters will be disseminated at 100% in Taiwan as in Japan. In order to meet such an expectation as well as to improve our capability as a gas provider, we will go forward to become the company that can meet the expectations of customers and that is appreciated by local communities while incorporating the latest technologies.

  • 4. EFFECT AFTER INTRODUCTION

    Please tell us any request that you may have for meter manufacturers.
    We would have a high expectation of manufacturers in the future for promoting the dissemination of microcomputer meters in Taiwan. We would like to ask Aichi Tokei Denki to introduce information to us, in particular, about the latest technologies and safety measures. We expect Taiwan Aichi Instruments Technology to make suggestions as to the activities for promoting microcomputer meters, taking advantage of the strength of a local production base. We also expect them to contribute to improving the knowledge of our employees about microcomputer meters through conducting factory tours as well as product training.
