Aichi Tokei Denki launched its Medium-term Management Plan 2026, which begins in fiscal 2024, and formulated a new vision: Contributing to a sustainable society through measurement and connection technologies.

By continuing to refine our measurement and connection technologies, we will expand our markets and areas of business, enhance the competitiveness of our core businesses, and help solve social issues, such as the realization of a decarbonized society and the declining birthrate and aging population.

Contributing to the Creation of a Sustainable Society through the Development of Environmentally Friendly Products

Aichi Tokei Denki has set “creating a people- and earth-friendly tomorrow” as its mission in its Medium-Term Management Plan 2026. Additionally, we recognize the need “to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society” as part of this mission, and as such place considerable emphasis on helping resolve social issues, including the environment, through our business activities.

In order to ensure that initiatives aimed at environmental issues remain sustainable, we believe that it is essential to balance efforts to preserve the environment with profitability. To date, we have successfully cutback on the use of raw materials by reducing the size and weight of existing products while maintaining each product’s functions and performance. Meanwhile, while city gas meters are replaced every 10 years, after the end of their test validity period, rather than their disposal, roughly 93% of component parts are reused or recycled. Taking into account the contributions to profitability while reducing environmental impact, and we will consider expanding this initiative to various other products.
In November 2023, Aichi Tokei Denki registered and disclosed the details of its carbon footprint declaration with respect to the Company’s propane gas meters, a mainstay product line, as part of efforts to support the carbon neutral initiatives of its customers. Going forward, we will promote initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impacts across the entire supply chain.

As a new initiative to address environmental issues, Aichi Tokei Denki continues to pursue research with the goal of establishing hydrogen measurement technology. Hydrogen is attracting considerable interest as a clean energy resource that does not emit carbon dioxide, thereby facilitating the realization of a decarbonized society. The use of hydrogen is expected to expand outside industrial fields such as power generation, combustion furnaces, and boilers, and potential future applications under active consideration include fuel cell vehicles—which are already in use—and its use in things that are familiar to us, such as hydrogen ships and hydrogen airplanes, is also being actively considered. Demonstration trials of Hydrogen Towns that supply hydrogen to retail facilities and households are currently underway. Aichi Tokei Denki is also participating in trials at various locations, including Namie in Fukushima Prefecture and Kita-Kyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture. Looking ahead, we will make further efforts to establish hydrogen measurement technology and work to enable its commercial application.

Human Development That Helps Realize our Corporate Philosophy of Reliability, Creativity, and Service

We believe that recruiting and training human resources to increase corporate value is one of our most important management issues. We have made substantial revisions to our training program, defining the human resources we aim to train as those who are capable of realizing Aichi Tokei Denki’s corporate philosophy of reliability, creativity, and service. In more specific terms, we place emphasis on the following three attributes, and are making Group-wide efforts to develop human resources in order to realize these.

- The ability to proactively tackle issues without fearing mistakes
- The ability to draw on the power of diverse people and work together to get things done
- The ability to maintain a strong sense of ethics and responsibility and exercise self-discipline as a member of society

As a means to promote human capital management, we are particularly focused on improving engagement. In fiscal 2023, we conducted our first engagement survey and are using the results to address issues. Furthermore, in order to promote diversity in our human resources, we are actively recruiting personnel from overseas as well as mid-career professionals.
Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen our human capital and increase productivity throughout the Group.

To Our Stakeholders

Aichi Tokei Denki believes that it must not only work to strengthen its business but must also redouble its efforts to promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives in order to secure sustainable growth on a continuous basis. As a company listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, we will endeavor to increase transparency and build a sophisticated governance system.

Following the first appointment in 2022, Aichi Tokei Denki has made efforts to increase the diversity of its Board of Directors, including welcoming a second female Outside Director to its Board in 2024. Moving forward, we will work to further enhance the efficacy of the Board.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of our stakeholders, including our shareholders, customers, business partners, local communities, and employees for their support as we have worked to expand our business. We will continue to create new value and contribute to the creation of a sustainable society by fully utilizing the measurement technology we have cultivated over the years and the connection technology we have continued to refine. As we work toward achieving our goals, I ask for your continued support and understanding.
