Carbon Neutral Challenge 2050
Together with our Group companies, Aichi Tokei Denki Co., Ltd. contributes to society by engaging in corporate activities that consider the global environment, and through products and corporate activities that harmonize with the environment.
In response to the broad demand for action on global warming, in particular, we are undertaking the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality in order to play a part in this effort.
Target 2050
We aim to achieve a decarbonized society, in other words carbon neutrality, by 2050.
Action Guidelines
- We will reduce greenhouse gas emissions that originate from energy used as part of our business activities to help achieve carbon neutrality.
-
We aim to reduce the environmental impact at every stage of the product life cycle.
- Advance product designs that consider the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), and that offer high energy savings and environmental safety.
- Strive to reduce the emissions of environmentally-hazardous substances from production activities, as well as to conserve energy and resources.
- Actively introduce DX that helps to improve productivity and to reduce environmental impact.
- We work in cooperation with the entire supply chain in an effort to achieve a decarbonized society.
ResultsCO2 Emissions for FY2023
CO2 emissions for FY2023 stood 61.6% lower than emissions in FY2013, significantly exceeding the FY2030 target for the industrial sector (38% reduction) presented in Japan’s Plan for Global Warming Countermeasures.
InitiativeEnvironmentally Conscious Business Activities - Elimination of Plastic Bag Packaging -
Starting in the first half of fiscal year 2024, we will implement an initiative to reduce the use of 500,000 plastic bags per year by eliminating the use of plastic bags for packaging gas meters. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 20.0 tons per year.

InitiativeReduction of power consumption by relaxing water temperature control
Aiming for a sustainable future, we have begun to improve the energy efficiency of our water meter manufacturing process, which will significantly reduce the power used by our chillers by relaxing water temperature control starting April 2024. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions, thereby reducing the burden on the global environment.
We will continue our efforts to improve product quality and efficiency and contribute to the preservation of the global environment.
InitiativeIntroducing CO2-free Electric Power
In April 2022, we began introducing CO2-free electric power at the Headquarters, Main Plant, Okazaki Plant, and Aichi Kisosaki Seikou Corporation.
As a result of this initiative, we successfully reduced FY2022 CO2 emissions to a significant degree.

InitiativeEnvironmentally-friendly Manufacturing - Lighter Weight and Smaller Water Meters -
Residential water meters※ have a certified usage life of eight years, meaning that approximately 7.5 million units are replaced throughout Japan every year.
In aims of producing more environmentally-friendly products, Aichi Tokei Denki developed the new SD Series of water meters, which are 50% lighter and smaller than existing models.
These new meters improve the efficiency of transport and installation, and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions from the manufacturing process.*Nominal diameter: 13 to 20mm

InitiativeEnvironmentally-friendly Manufacturing - Reusing and Recycling Gas Meters -
City gas meters are replaced before the end of their ten-year certified usage life. Instead of discarding the removed gas meters, however, we replace the worn-out parts and have these recertified to be used again. These meters are therefore environmentally-friendly products.
